Has
anyone ever told you something is impossible for you? Has anyone ever concluded
you don’t have the capacity to achieve something? Don’t you think you should
prove them wrong? Or do you believe what they said?
A
man once revealed that the greatest motivation of his life came from people who
told him he couldn’t do certain things. The
moment they told him he couldn’t do such things, he became determined to prove
them wrong.
Have
you ever been told by anyone at any time that you can’t make a success of your
career? Have you been told you can’t be a good musician, writer, speaker,
scholar, athlete, scientist or any other thing you have ever thought of doing? Why
can’t you prove them wrong? Your keeping quiet and conceding defeat only prove
that their conclusion about you is correct. But consider this thought-provoking
insight from Marriane Williamson:
“Our deepest fear is not that we
are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is
our light and not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am
I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not
to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There’s
nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people will not feel insecure
around you.
We were born to make manifest the
glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone. And
as we let our light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do
the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically
liberates others.”
Begin
to think of what people have said you can’t do. Is it true that you can’t
really do them? Think again! Why can’t you challenge your fears and prove them
wrong?
